If you want to install the startup script to automatically start MySQL server at the time of system startup, you should also install the start up package of mysql now (included in the unpacked MySQL package that you just downloaded and unpacked as a separate file).

A link usrlocalmysql (pointing to the MySQL installation directory) should also have been created for your convenience.

In order to follow along with the exercises theres a few things youll need.

Im using SQLite. SQLite is a simple compact standards-compatible database management system, thats easy to install and cross-platform compatible.

The SQLiteStudio package includes the database system along with a management system, and well install this later in this lesson.

A word processor is designed for writing documents and includes a lot of formatting information along with the text.

The formatting information will actually interfere with SQL code in this example files, so a word processor will not work for this purpose.
